This is a report about about the people of Diego Garcia (a former colony of Britain) and how the 2000 some population of black people was betrayed by its government, the British government.

These people were living a peaceful life when the British government decided to deport them all unconditionally and hand the island over to the USA to be used as a MILITARY BASE!

Those who refused to leave were tortured, starved and whatever deed possible was done to evacuate them. They were then relocated in horrendous slums in Mauritius. Most of them died of hunger, disease, poverty or just depression. Whole generations uprooted and destroyed. All thanks to the righteous British and American governments.

This island today is used as a military base from where the Americans have launched attacks on Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries. (Source:Youtube)

The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years.

Malaria has spread to higher altitudes in places like the Colombian Andes, 7,000 feet above sea level.

The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled over the past decade.

At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles.

Deaths from global warming will double in just 25 years -- to 300,000 people a year.

Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of shelf ice in Greenland and Antarctica, devastating coastal areas worldwide.

Heat waves will be more frequent and more intense.

The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer by 2050.

These are just some one of the things that has happened or will happen in the near future. Global Warming is happening at a faster rate than we had anticipated. It's time to act. Help save our planet.

Why havn't I seen this site before? I came across the Uncyclopedia a couple of days back while browsing. I was quite impressed with the articles on it. Some of them are so hilarious.

It is basically an imitation of Wikipedia with a twist. All the articles have humor as the main theme. The interface is almost like Wikipedia's and even the logo is almost the same. Instead of the hollowed globe their logo is a hollowed potato.

Here are some of the entries from the Uncyclopedia.

Maldives - The Maldives is an island nation consisting of about 30 islands located somewhere in the Indian Ocean. Filled with a few palm trees, an airport, a few shacks and the Maldives Hilton Resort. In Japan, a person can wave a Casio watch over a scanner to purchase products from a vending machine, pay for food in a cafeteria, or pay for gasoline.
Dryers and washers in some American college dorms are hooked to the web. Students can punch a code on the availability of laundry machines. Furthermore, they can pay with their student ID or with a credit card and receive email alerts when their wash and dry cycles are complete. Once in the laundry room, a student activates the system by swiping a student ID card or keying in a PIN number. The system automatically injects premeasured amounts of detergent and fabric softener, at the right cycle time.
Several banks in Japan issue smart cards that can be used only by their owners. When using the cards, the palm vein of the owner’s hand is compared with a prestored template of the vein stored on the smart card. When the owner inserts the card into ATM or vendors’ card readers that are equipped with the system, it will dispense the person’s money. The police are alerted if anyone other than the card’s owner tries to use it.
VIP patrons of the Baja Beach Club in Barcelona, Spain, can have radio frequency identification (RFID) chips, which are the size of a grain of rice, implanted into their upper arms, allowing them to charge drinks to a bar tab when they raise their arm toward the RFID reader. An RFID is a tiny tag that contains a processor and antenna and can communicate wirelessly with a detecting unit in a radar over a short distance.

I'm sure almost everyone of you have used Google search engine before. It has become one of our best friends now. If you want to know some thing, what do you do? You Google it. Right? Well, at least I do. Google can be used to search for much more than you can imagine and it can be fun too. I am talking about Google hacking here.

According to Wikipedia, Google hacking is the art of creating complex search queries to filter through large amounts of search results for information related to computer security.

Here are some techniques that you could use with your search query.

To search for a phrase, use the double quotes (" ") around the phrase.
Use the plus sign (+) to force a search for an overly common word. Use the minus sign (-) to exclude a term from a search.
To search a specific web site or domain, use [inurl:] and type the search term.
To search for a term within the title of a document, use [intitle:] before the search term.

Here is a list of all the Google search operators.

By the help of these operators in your search queries you can make your search results a little more interesting. You could also include terms like [.gov], [.mil], [.doc], [.xls], [.mdb] in your search results. Below I will list some of the search queries that generated interesting search results. Just copy and paste them in Google search bar and start exploring. You can also make your own search queries just like these. Use your imagination. No promises though.

Finally, the long awaited album of Linkin Park is here. I just bought a copy of it and I am listening to it now. I have to say this album is nothing like their previous albums. Numetal is dead. For me, some of the songs are a bit slow and they didn’t have the tempo that they used to have on their previous songs. And also you won’t hear too much of Chester’s screaming and Mike’s rap on this album (but you will hear the use of F word a few times, which is something new for LP). There is a lot less of the rap-style rock in this album. I am not saying that its all bad, but if you are a LP fan don't expect to hear the same LP that you heard a few years back.

Has anyone ever wondered what our president promised when he came to power 28 years ago. I am talking about the rasmee huvaa kurun of the president (in which he touched the holy book and promised to do certain things)

Well here is what I believe the things he promised to.

I, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, hereby agree to the following as the president of the Republic of Maldives.

1.To remain in power as long as I live.

2.To appoint members of my family at senior posts in the government.

3.To keep the general population of Maldives unaware of my atrocities against my fellow countrymen.

4.To ignore the development of the islands except Male’ , so everyone from the islands will come to Male’ and congest the whole place creating a number of social problems.

5.To provide a 50% discount on all illegal drugs sold to the youth and encourage them to use drugs and forget about education and religion. This will make sure that the new generation will be uneducated and uncivilized so that they won’t pose any threat to my power.

6.To discriminate anyone who gets a good education so that they will leave Maldives and find jobs elsewhere. This will make sure there are very few educated people in the country. If the population is generally well educated they might find out the all the dirty work of the government and they might as well challenge the government.

7.To fully control the media of this country. This includes the media referring to me as “lobuvethi zaeem”.

8.Arrest anyone who opposes my rule. In some cases they will be killed.

9.Travel to Singapore every now and then with my family and have a jolly good time with money stolen from the people.

10.Lease some of the uninhabited islands to my friends to develop world class resorts and claim a percentage of the profits generated from these islands.

No No! Don’t get me wrong here. I am not against women or black people. I am talking about the statement made by one of the leading hip hop record producers, Russell Simmons (the co-founder of Def Jam recording label). He is also one of the people who was behind hip hop’s commercial success.

Minutes to Midnight.

Warner Brothers has announced the third studio album of Linkin Park "Minutes to Midnight". The album is scheduled to be released on 14th of May. This is a long awaited album from LP. Their last album was released nearly four years ago. Before the official album release a single will be released on 2nd April, titled "What I've Done". The title "Minutes to Midnight" is a reference to the doomsday clock. Read more about it here.

According to the official LP website this album would be a lot different from their previous albums. Lead singer Bennington said, "we're straying away from a lot of the predictable sounds we've had in the past, but there's no question in your mind when you hear it that it's Linkin Park...We've always said we write the music we write so that we can spread our wings as far as we want and try new things and go anywhere. I think we're really going to prove that with this new record." he also added that it is a mix of punk and classic-rock elements with vintage hip-hop beats.

I guess it would be really interesting to see LP doing a new style of music.
Can't wait to hear their new songs.

This match was the last match of the on loan striker Larsson and this is a perfect goodbye for him. This is one of the best reality TV shows I have ever seen. It started in 2001 and currently it's
in their 14th season. Every series is set in a different country of the world. The contestants are
isolated from the locals of that country and they compete for a million dollar prize.

At the beginning of the show the contestants (divided into tribes of 4 or 5) are given only minimal tools for survival. So it's their job to find enough food and shelter for them and their tribe. During the show tribes will compete against each other in challenges. Normally a member of the loosing tribe will go home. The person who goes home is voted off by their own tribe. This is where you need to be smart. You should not piss off anyone in your own tribe and a lot of strategy and mind games goes into this part of the game. You need to be strong in your team to get a shot at the final rounds of the game. After all you are playing for a million dollars.

The European Space Agency said that it has found new evidence that water may flow on the surface of Mars. The Mars Express orbiter will follow up on the new evidence. Scientists said that pictures taken by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor show changes in craters that provide the strongest evidence yet that water coursed through them as recently as several years ago, and is perhaps doing so even now. Global Surveyor previously spotted tens of thousands of gullies that scientists believed were carved by fast-moving water coursing down cliffs and steep crater walls. In both craters, scientists found light-colored deposits several hundred meters (yards) long in gullies that weren't present in the original photos. They concluded that the deposits — possibly mud, salt or frost — were left there when water recently cascaded through. "It's all pointing in certain directions, but of course it's not strong enough evidence to really make a statement on the existence of life. But it is certainly something which would be consistent with the existence of life," said Michael Khan, a mission analyst and Mars expert at ESA headquarters in Germany.

Maldives has lost their second match against India in the Asian games football event. This is another early exit from an international football competition by the Maldivian football team. This is the third consecutive time coach Stoikov has failed to impress the football crazy fans of Maldives. There maybe lots of reasons for this trend in our football. Is it time we get a new coach? or is it because of the problems in FAM? FAM has not been very organised this year I would say. I also think it is time we get a new coach because this is not the first time this has happened after he became the coach. Bye for now, but I atleast hope that Maldives will win their last game against Hong Kong.

Keyboard Shortcuts

A keyboard shortcut is something done to achieve a certain function by pressing a set of keys on your keyboard. Sometimes it is much easier and saves some time by using these shortcuts. I am sure most of you will know shortcuts like Alt+Ctrl+Del and Alt+F4. Below I will list some of the shortcuts that I came across over the years.

Ctrl+Esc - pops up the start menu
Alt+Esc - will bring the next window to the foreground
Alt+Tab - lets you navigate through all opened windows and choose one

If you have got a key with the windows logo(down near the space bar), here are some more shortcuts that can be used in conjunction with that key. I will call this key as WL.

WL+e - Starts the Windows Explorer
WL+f - Starts the Find in Files dialog
WL+M - Minimizes all the windows to clear the desktop
WL+Shift+M - Restores all the minimized windows
WL+r - Starts the Run dialog
WL+F1 - Starts Windows Help
WL+Pause - Starts System Properties
WL+Ctrl+f - Starts the Find a Computer on the Network dialog
